二十世纪四十年代，二战爆发，大批犹太人遭受纳粹迫害。许多犹太幸存者逃往立陶宛躲避，然此地不久亦将被战火侵袭。为了避难，他们必须得到签证向大陆逃亡。
日本驻立陶宛外交官杉原千亩（Chris Tashima 饰）不顾日本外务省的命令，向犹太难民派发大量签证，总共近2150张，共拯救6000多犹太人。他在人性和职责中做出了重要的抉择……
[背景]本片根据真实人物改编，杉原千亩（1900－1986），日本岐阜县出身，日本驻立陶宛外交官。二战期间违背外务省训令向数以千计犹太难民发放签证，被称为“日本的辛德勒”。 Haunted by the sight of hundreds of Jewish refugees outside the consulate gates, a Japanese diplomat and his wife, stationed in Kaunas, Lithuania at the beginning of World War II, must decide how much they are willing to risk. Inspired by a true story, VISAS AND VIRTUE explores the moral and professional dilemmas that Consul General Chiune "Sempo" Sugihara faces in making a life or death decision: defy his own government's direct orders and risk his career, by issuing live-saving transit visas, or obey orders and turn his back on humanity. This Academy Award® winning 26-minute portrait gracefully captured in period black and white by noted cinematographer Hiro Narita poignantly pays tribute to the rescuer of 6,000 Jews from the Holocaust.

英文太溜，很出戏。人物和戏剧情景很脸谱化
日版辛德勒。太矫情了。。。大家的英语都说得太好了点。奥斯卡最佳真人短片。自导自演。
外交官面對人道和前程的兩難抉擇，關鍵時刻做出的勇敢決定也改變了歷史，一部蕩氣迴腸的歷史電影，值得推薦。
影片的内容是感人的，写实，当然缺少渲染。
