剧情介绍
奥利弗（莱昂纳尔·巴里摩尔 Lionel Barrymore 饰）是一名海运业大亨，经济大萧条让他的产业遭到了众创，为了维持生计，他决定举办一场晚宴，邀请财力雄厚的公爵夫妇参加，以打通人脉获得经济上的支持。
卡洛塔（玛丽·杜丝勒 Marie Dressler 饰）是奥利弗曾经的情人，身为演员的她有过一段辉煌的岁月，但现如今早已过气，她收到了奥利弗的邀请。帕克（华莱士·比里 Wallace Beery 饰）是撞了大运的暴发户，虽然他十分看不上奥利弗的人品，但在这场晚宴里他看到了商机，于是也准备出席。奥利弗的女儿波拉（玛吉·伊万斯 Madge Evans 饰）爱上了男演员拉瑞（约翰·巴里摩尔 John Barrymore 饰），她决定在晚宴上向他求爱。 Millicent Jordan is pre-occupied with the plans she is making for a high-class dinner party. Her husband Oliver is in failing health, and he is also worried because someone is trying to buy up the stock in his shipping business - even his old friend Carlotta wants to sell her stock. Hoping to get help from businessman Dan Packard, he persuades Millicent, against her wishes, to invite Packard and his wife to the dinner. As Oliver's problems get worse, Millicent is increasingly quick-tempered because the plans for the party are not going smoothly. As the time for the dinner approaches, it appears that the hosts and the guests will all have plenty on their minds.

太没劲了，只想看珍哈露，好美好娇好可爱
3.5 这哪是喜剧 明明就是大萧条背景下家家有本难念的经，除了Harlow都挺无聊的（那时间演员真的都好大嗓门
结尾欢乐的音乐。歇斯底里的主妇最后真可爱，明星过气不分男女都很惨。
米高梅（女性电影著名大制片厂），阿德安是黄金时期的服装设计。服装好看，十分钟看完。
这部电影的开头我至少看了8遍，今天终于看完了整部电影
比想象中的要更好看，如果结局可以一惨到底就更好了(闭嘴)哈露真的非常可爱，结尾听见她说:“我最近看了一本书”莫名其妙就很难过，她永远看不完《飘》了。巴里摩尔(年轻那个！)演绎得太动人了，一下子想到了好多永远属于默片时代的演员，还莫名其妙想到了墙纸和他必须先走一个的王尔德。
枯燥乏味的群戏，全靠大咖撑，主旨毫不清晰，比不上Grand Hotel。 Larry简直就是JohnB真实写照，过于poignant，还有这自杀结局太草率了点…不过我要是Paula Jordan也会感到不会再爱了😂。 Jean Harlow和Wallace Beery由于互相厌恶，所以表演效果还是很不错的。至于其他大咖的演技，不用多说。（加一星） Madge Evans的颜好绝！and女仆Tina的演员长相好阴郁…特别像Rebecca里那个女管家😳。

卡司强大，但我对这种一大堆明星砸上去的电影不感兴趣 （还有一部是嘉宝的大饭店）Jean Harlow & Dressler的场面最好笑
揭示了美国上流人就算实际生活不好也要打肿脸充胖子的社会流态。
早期情节剧里的成功范例，多线叙事、每个人都有自己的难处这些套路都可以追溯到这一部。
3.5星，低配版大饭店，结尾要再惨点儿就更好了【John的角色就算了，他已经够惨了……】
前一年大饭店后一年晚宴，巴里摩尔兄弟饰演的角色如此相似。珍哈露真是活灵活现啊～
