小人物发达记，看海报还以为是个类似漂亮朋友的故事，然而实际上男主是靠自己的机灵头脑一步一步往上爬。三个女演员都很美，Glynis Johns的角色最有趣，和男主算是一路人吧，也是一个card，不过男主比起技胜自己一筹的人还是更需要一个温柔贤内助，最后问道what about Ruth时，男主回答说she can take care of herself还挺意味深长的。就我个人的感觉来说，Alec Guinness的表演有点在搞笑和腻之间，个别时候感觉小表情太过了。
精算勇气发迹，金钱不改仁义，新英小镇童话，中规中矩喜剧。
