Guy Pringle and his new wife, Harriet, are members of the English community in Bucharest, Rumania on the eve of World War II. The film catalogs and chronicles, after the war begins, the characters [diplomats, literary types, spies, penniless royalty, gays, lesbians] that cross and re-cross their path as they flee before the advancing Germany armies to Athens and then to Cairo.

携有福斯特韵味，一群英国知识分子于本土之外历经的战火流离和文化冲突，节奏沉缓，余味十足，属于慢热型；群戏非常精彩，众生相鲜明，男女主的戏内戏外，现在看来不啻谶言，二战前夕的欧洲局势风雨如晦恰似飘摇感情；三次登上金字塔顶俯瞰回首，故人纷纷告别，恍如隔世重生，此去经年不可知。

前几集有种他们走到哪儿德国人炸到哪儿的感觉==dear boy前面烦死了，可他死的时候我竟然好难过QAQ 爱你婶，喜欢你婶这样幽默文化水平还高的中老年人。
可是因为时代感，显得啰嗦，没有看完。
重看才认出来那个经常冒出来卖萌的叫兽是AB聚聚。。。以及这两个人啊真是。。。
啃泥叔和艾玛姨的相识之作，群戏超赞！尤其是Ronald Pickup，演活了一个无药可救的但又让人恨不起来的废柴

喜欢前半部生动的知识分子友谊，放到今天也不过时。后半部突然变成了melodrama……没啥意思
