Filmmaker Mark Rappaport cleans out the proverbial closet of Hollywood and film history and unearths a veritable treasure of homo-erotic and gay subliminal gems, including everything from comedies to westerns, film-noir to musicals, and everything in between. Host/narrator Dan Butler leads us through a fun, but extensively documented, exploration of gay film history, from subliminal subtext to clearly visible. Included are many film clips of classic films and golden age stars.
偶见过Jerry Lewis与Dean Martin的基情镜头，却没注意到Bob Hope与Bing Crosby的基友暧昧，从谐星Danny Kaye到Clifton Webb，再转入西部片及其他正片，将John Wayne、Gary Cooper、Humphrey Bogart串起来的Walter Brennan，到Gary Grant的绯闻男友Randolph Scott，甚至欧洲电影，比如Massimo Girotti、Yves Montand和Alain Delon……粉紫色滤镜下的早期银幕，可作为《赛璐璐橱柜(The Celluloid Closet)》的支线补充来看。
大银幕上的同性情节，穿越次元壁的镜头还是挺有趣。
老片基情scrapbook，发现大家脑补的很多点都是共♂通的（听到说Lancaster有“sexual edge”的地方我一声大笑）。不过西部片和黑帮片里上了年纪总在主角身后的那种Walter Brennan式老头sidekick是我没想到的一类（我一般格外留意的都是主角身边同龄的二把手，Allen Jenkins那种可庄可谐的）。以前谜之觉得Lizabeth Scott老负责演“beard”，结果看这部第一次得知她被无良媒体曝过取向……似乎一切都说得通了.jpg，还有韦恩居然演过这么多微妙段落……整个纪录片看下来姨母笑时刻过多，narrator强行同框讲解的形式也很活泼。当安利向索引看就好

细细追究，一路上早就不是无人陪伴，这条路很早前就有人在走，只是蛛丝马迹需要你擦亮眼睛才能发现。
