剧情介绍
马特（斯宾塞·屈塞 Spencer Tracy 饰）是报社的主编，思想先进的他反对种族歧视，提倡自由和平等。就是这样的一个男人，当他心爱的女儿乔伊（凯瑟琳·霍顿 Katharine Houghton 饰）带着男友约翰（西德尼·波蒂埃 Sidney Poitier 饰）来到自己 面前时，马特却彻底傻了眼。原来，约翰是一个黑人男孩，马特做梦也没有想到，那些平日里在小说和电视里看到的剧情，竟然发生在了自己的身上。
一边是信奉的自由主义，一边是骨子里无法消除的对于黑人的成见，马特陷入了两难之中，同时，约翰的父亲对于这门亲事也是极力反对。面对着巨大的压力，乔伊和约翰并没有气馁，看到了女儿的坚强，马特若有所思。 After a period of vacation in Hawaii, Joanna "Joey" Drayton returns to her parents' home in San Francisco bringing her fiancé, the high-qualified Dr. John Prentice, to introduce him to her mother Christina Drayton that owns an art gallery and her father Matt Drayton that is the publisher editor of the newspaper The Guardian. Joey was raised with a liberal education and intends to get married with Dr. John Prentice that is a black widower and needs to fly on that night to Geneva to work with the World Health Organization. Joey invites John's parents Mr. Prentice and Mrs. Prentice to have dinner with her family and the couple flies from Los Angeles to San Francisco without knowing that Joey is white. Christina invites also the liberal Monsignor Ryan, who is friend of her family. Along the day and night, the families discuss the problems of their son and daughter.

补分，大二上英语课看的全英版，故事情节其实还蛮俗套的吧，但是女主好美
漂亮的家庭群戏小喜剧，黑人家庭的冲突不太明显，结果只能让白人岳丈下，权力在手里一看便知。
【7】很有趣的情景喜剧。《饭戏攻心2》想做成的大概就是本片的样子，奈何自己看似新鲜的议题实则空洞无比，本片的台词以及角度我觉得是不过时的，就算放在现代开放，完全可以换成同性恋，亦或是在我们老中来个门不当户不对的审判。其反映的本质依旧是新鲜有劲的。同样是吃饭聊天，本片就是充分利用小空间大言语，以及每个主角们的表演，谁都不知道最后吃上饭的是哪一个。只觉得很温馨，恬静，和和美美的，没有一地鸡毛地吃了饭。拍吃饭电影不吃饭都是白搭。

考虑到时值如火如荼的黑人民权运动背景，这电影像是一个重磅宣言，难得配以轻松幽默不失好看的画风和剧本，不得不赞叹好莱坞和一些电影人的伟大。
一部“政治正确”作品。人与人之间不应该有肤色问题，但同时也不应该忽视文化问题。也许片中只有女仆是个明白人：民权是一回事，婚姻是另一回事。
