影片讲述了芝加哥的四个高中诗歌队备战世界最大的青年诗歌赛的故事。影片展现了这些令人过目难忘的孩子澎湃的生命，探寻了诗歌写作对他们产生的影响。语言是令人愉悦的释放，才华横溢的青少年们痴迷于文字的创作，并在这过程中结识了很多朋友。他们笔下的主题通常都是很个人很私密的话题，但是他们写出来的的诗歌和总结出来的道理，却是被大家所认同的：对寻找自己声音的定义。

Poetry class上看的。果然我的听力还不足以支撑无字幕电影，一直在lost2333。其实不太喜欢那么power的诗，但确实很感动，喜欢那首10 to 1(忘了名字)。但作业让写slam poem真的超纲了😢。 ——2021.7.6 14:07

虽然不太听得懂和能欣赏slam poetry但是这些孩子真的特别inspiring，怎么会有这么成熟懂事的三个孩子！！看着他们就让人有正能量……真的像ebert说的应该做个这种电视竞赛才比较有内容……
有一阵儿特别迷Beau Sia，slam把不公和愤怒升华为创造性的反抗。
听了几首朗诵的诗，写得很差嘛。青年诗歌赛倒是很独特，往奇葩方向独的。
想不到美国的高中生能这么有才华啊，自己写诗、自己朗诵，不管是好学校还是差学校的学生，都能写出来充满创意、让人心动的诗篇。相比之下中国作文大赛的作品太缺乏创意了啊。感受：诗歌是水，不是油。
没想到竟然豆瓣还是有这个作品的。
